Tadoba and Andhari together make up the oldest and the largest tiger reserve in Maharashtra. Between the two of them, Tadoba is older, dating back to 1955.
Tadoba Andhari is home to 43 tigers along with other animals like; leopards, sloth bears, Gaur, Nilgai, Hyena, Jungle Cats, Sambars etc..
Located in the Chandrapur district, Tadoba is reachable via Chandrapur city where buses and taxis are available. People coming in from afar can fly to Nagpur, which is the nearest airport.
The ideal time to visit the forest is during summer which starts from February and doesn’t end until May. The park remains closed from the 1st of july until the 15th of October. Tourists are allowed to traverse the forest between 6 a.m. and 10 a.m. in the morning and between 3 p.m. and 6 p.m. in the evening. The park remains closed on Tuesdays.
Entry fee per car is Rs. 750 and per minibus is 1500. Tourists need to pay an additional Rs. 250 per car and Rs. 500 per minibus on weekends. Gypsy (four-wheel drive) can be hired for Rs. 2000 per safari. Any vehicle more than 5 years old and running on diesel won’t be allowed to enter into the park. A forest guide may be hired at the gate for a fee of Rs. 300 per safari. You can carry a camera with you by paying out a fee of Rs. 200 (applicable to cameras with lenses larger than 250mm)
